15-Year Survey and Major Technical Maintenance
A comprehensive dry-dock programme supporting reliability, safety and performance
In February 2026, the 50-metre superyacht ‘joyMe entered dry dock for her comprehensive 15-year survey. The programme combined essential technical inspections, scheduled servicing and a series of exterior and interior improvements.
Built in 2011 by Philip Zepter Yachts, ‘joyMe features a steel displacement hull, twin Cummins main engines and stabilisers for enhanced comfort both at anchor and underway. Her latest dry-dock period represents an important milestone in the yacht’s ongoing maintenance programme.
Comprehensive Underwater Inspection
A central part of the survey focused on the yacht’s underwater machinery and essential operating systems. The valves, rudders, shafts and propellers were thoroughly inspected as part of the 15-year survey requirements.
The stabiliser fins were removed to allow detailed servicing of the system. Maintenance included work on the hydraulic cylinders and the replacement or servicing of associated gaskets, helping to maintain smooth and reliable stabiliser performance.
Machinery and Electrical Maintenance
The dry-dock programme included the five-year survey of the gearboxes, together with the annual servicing of ‘joyMe’s main engines.
A Megger test was also completed to assess the condition of the yacht’s electrical insulation and verify the integrity of key electrical systems.
The windlasses were fully serviced and fitted with new electric motors, improving the reliability of the yacht’s anchoring equipment. A new condenser was also installed for the air-conditioning system, supporting efficient climate control throughout the guest and crew areas.
Deck Equipment Testing
The yacht’s gangway and crane underwent their scheduled five-year load tests. These tests confirm that essential lifting and access equipment continues to operate safely under its designated working loads.
Exterior and Interior Improvements
Alongside the technical work, various areas of the exterior received fresh paintwork. A selection of interior repairs and improvements was also completed, helping to preserve the distinctive design and high standards found throughout ‘joyMe.
Prepared for the Seasons Ahead
The February 2026 dry-dock programme reflects ‘joyMe’s continued commitment to technical excellence, safety and meticulous maintenance.
With her major surveys completed and essential machinery, deck equipment and onboard systems serviced, ‘joyMe is prepared to continue delivering the comfort, performance and distinctive character for which she is known.
JoyMe offers a remarkable sense of openness rarely found aboard yachts of her class. Generous ceiling heights. Expansive living areas. Abundant natural light. Carefully balanced proportions.
Every room possesses its own atmosphere. Every guest suite has its own identity. No two spaces are alike because JoyMe was designed around individuality rather than repetition. She feels less like a yacht. And more like contemporary architecture surrounded by the sea.
Previous Maintenance
Over the years, ‘joyMe has benefited from an extensive programme of technical upgrades, equipment renewals and preventative maintenance. Key works have included the installation of a fresh-water UV filter in May 2020, the rebuilding of the ship’s PA and alarm-system amplifier, and major improvements to the air-conditioning system, including renewed electronic controls and the replacement of almost all fan-coil units. In October 2021, new Furuno NAVTEX and echo-sounder systems were installed, together with a 400V, three-phase isolation transformer designed to reduce the risk of galvanic-current damage, while the wireless manoeuvring system was rebuilt the following month. Further upgrades included new engine-driven seawater pumps, radar components, Ferri-Carral vertical shafts and winch gearboxes, external loudspeakers, fire-hydrant valves and a replacement port-main-engine heat exchanger. The yacht also received a new Ribeye tender with a Yamaha F130 engine in July 2023, a new two-seat Sea-Doo in October 2024, a Jotron MK8000 AIS system in May 2025 and new seawater-inlet butterfly valves in June 2025. The Idromar MC5 watermaker was also upgraded in 2025 with a higher-quality CAT high-pressure pump, which has operated reliably since installation.
